Life is so uncertain. Who knows if we will see you again next Sunday….if you will be on the earth? and I speak very frankly with you. Everyone is going to have to one day bow before this person Jesus Christ Paul tells us and confess that He is Lord. And yet for those who have come to know Him as Saviour, it is not an ordeal, it is a joy. Because the difference in meeting God, whether it is meeting Him in love or in fear is whether you have responded to the provision of grace that God has made. If you respond to it and say “I accept by faith, I believe that Jesus Christ paid my penalty. I believe that He died for me—He is my Saviour. If a person believes that with saving faith, I mean you trust it—it is a certainty, then you will greet Him overjoyed, excited to see His face. As the song said, “Just to see a smile in your direction from Him will be glory for you.” But if you reject that provision, one day you will have to face Him in a horrible condition with no excuse, with no plea and with nothing to be brought forward but your sin and that will be the day you will hear the voice of the Son of God say, “Into all eternity you must go into hell.” I hope that you have considered that in your life. I hope that if you never have that you will consider it this morning. It’s the truth….simply acknowledge in your heart “it’s true.” Pastor Jim Mooberry
“That the trial of your faith, being more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:7
Faith is: Believing the promises of God (2 Peter 1:4); Believing the eyewitnesses in Scripture (2 Peter 1:16); Believing the voice of God (O.T.). (2 Peter 1:17, 18); Believing the prophecies of God.” (2 Peter 1: 19).

The Divided Kingdom: Israel c. 975-722 BC, Judah c. 975-586 BC. All of the kings of the Northern Kingdom were evil. The Southern Kingdom had some good kings. Beneath the debris of a Baal temple near Gezer, great numbers of jars were found that contained bones of babies which had been sacrificed. There was also evidence of “foundational sacrifices” in which a new house was built containing a sacrificed child’s body which was built into a wall of the house. This was to ensure good luck for the rest of the family.
Excavators also found many plaques of the goddess Ashtaroth. Baal was the primary Phoenician god and his counterpart was the goddess Ashtaroth. Baal worship included animal sacrifices, ritualistic feasts to plead with Baal for bountiful harvests, and licentious dances. The places of worship were usually located on hilltops among groves of trees. The worship of Baal broke the commandment of God (Exodus 20:30) and God’s covenant (2 Chron. 7:17-22). God was not ignorant, nor indifferent to this.
